Thank you everyone for the the positive reaction to part one of our feature on May Cosplay Babe of the Month Riddle and thank you for the overwhelming response to the launch of our new sister site Cosrater.com. Now, let’s get back to our interview with the cosplay star herself, Riddle.
Comics Ninja: What future costumes do you have in the planning stages?
Riddle: Future costumes for this year I’m hoping to do as long as work doesn’t get too crazy is; Terra from Perez Teen Titans, A Kari from Battle Atheles and Mio from strike witches. I have materials for other costumes but not to sure what I’ll start next. I do have a 5 year plan of costumes I would like to do
Comics Ninja: We understand that you have taken on cosplay as a career of sorts. Tell us a little bit about that experience so far.
Riddle: I don’t like to use the term cosplay career or professional cosplay. While I would like to make a living dressing up, DC and Marvel would shut me down in a heartbeat if I charged for appearances. I cosplay for myself and use my own money, any opportunity that has come along has been a perk to a hobby I already enjoy. When I started cosplay there was no such thing as cosplay celebrities. That’s also not to say that the skills I’ve learned through costuming haven’t opened doors for me.
Comics Ninja: If you could be any character in real life, who would you be and why?
Riddle: Who I would like to be is always changing, but right now it’s Big Barda. Bikini or armor, doesn’t matter to me.
Comics Ninja: Any advice for fellow cosplayers planning to go to the conventions dressed as their favorite characters in the future?
Riddle: Wow tons of advice. A few off the top of my head. Be aware of your surroundings at conventions, especially children and disabled. Don’t be part of a group unless you would do the character on your own. Wear your costume a few days before a con to work out anything wonky. Make a repair kit to bring.
Comics Ninja: What else should the Ninja Nation know about you? What else would you like to pass along?
Riddle: Thank you for taking the time to interview me. I would like to take a moment to talk about a fantastic project I’m part of called Cosplay for a Cause. It’s a collection of cosplayers from all over the world coming together to make a 2012 calendar. It’s to help raise money for the Japanese Red Cross.
