Lindze A’la Mode as La Charlotta from Phantom of the Opera
Welcome back to part two of our feature on July 2011, Cosplay Babe of the Month, Lindze A’la Mode. Thank you for the positive response to the first part of our feature, now let’s get back to our interview.
Comics Ninja:All Lindze, back to the questions. What are your best and worst fanboy experiences?
Lindze:The best is definitely the people who have made works of art from my cosplay photographs and likeness. Ultimate compliment! I’ve received some amazing pieces over the years.
Worst would be the very few guys who have gotten grabby. It hasn’t happened often, and I nipped that in the bud pretty quick, so it’s not a huge deal. Overall, experiences are far more positive than negative.
Comics Ninja: What comic books are you personally reading right now? If none, favorite games?
Lindze:I used to work at a comic book store and read a million titles. With all the price increases in books, I’ve really slimmed my reading down. I still try to keep up with Hellboy/BPRD stuff, Empowered, and a few other US comics, and also I love manga like Yotsuba, and the Battle Angel Alita and Fruits Basket series, when they were still being released. I’ll pretty much read any manga I can get my hands on, the girlier the better.
Games are my favorite release. I’m always playing something. Right now I’m playing Mass Effect 2 (I know, I’m so late on that) and I have a serious soft spot for all strategy RPGs. I could play the Disgaea and Atelier Iris series games every day for the rest of my life.
Comics Ninja: What character would you be if you could be any character in real life?
Lindze:Kei from Adam Warren’s Dirty Pair, definitely. She’s a freaking MESS of loud, crazy nonsense just like me. I love her. I just wish I had all her awesome cyber upgrades. I wish I could be someone cool and collected like Alita, but alas, I’m the spaz.
Comics Ninja: What costumes are you planning in the near future?
Lindze:I’m currently making Miranda from Mass Effect for this year’s Dragoncon. I also will be wearing my Crimson Viper costume as well. Those are the big ones I have planned. I always sneak a few small ones in too, like I’m doing a sexy Harry Potter group cosplay, where I’ll be one of the Weasley Twins. It’s just a silly, casual costume. But those are often the most fun to hang out in at cons.
Comics Ninja:Any advice for fellow cosplayers planning to go to the conventions dressed as their favorite characters in the future?
Lindze:Just have fun with it! If you want to learn costuming, taking classes in sewing, sculpting, makeup application….all those things can help you make a great costume, but the most important thing is if you’re having fun with it. Cosplay is not serious bizniss, it’s just a hobby, so try to remember that and just do whatever you want and have a good time with your friends.
Comics Ninja: What else should the Ninja Nation know about you? What else would you like to pass along?
Lindze:I will be in an upcoming calendar, Cosplay for a Cause: (http://www.cosplayforacause.com/) that is raising money for the Japan disaster relief fund via The Red Cross. 100% of the profits will be donated. I want to tell as many people about it as possible since it’s a great calendar that is doing something good! I’ll be in it as Morrigan, from Darkstalkers. Thank you for letting me blabber on about my hobbies!
