Tanya as the White Queen at 2010 SDCC.
We’re into the dog days of summer but Ms. August Cosplay Babe of the Month is certainly no dog. Please join us in welcoming Tanya Tate! Tanya is an import from the U.K., and has a great site focusing on comic books, gaming, toys and lots of other great geekiness at www.justalottatanya.com. Additionally, on top of all of the great geekiness, she splits time with her other career in the adult film industry.

Today, in part one of her feature, we’ll focus on getting to know Tanya a little better and her love of cosplay and all things geek. Now let’s get right to the interview.
Comics Ninja: Tanya, thanks a ton for joining with us today. Why don’t you take the opportunity to introduce yourself to the Comics Ninja readers and tell us a little bit about yourself.
Tanya Tate:Hello everyone, I’m Tanya Tate. I’m from England, born in Liverpool and moved to Los Angeles last year. I’m also a superhero cosplayer and blog about my experiences on JustaLottaTanya.com. I’ve been a fan of superheroes since I first saw Superman 2 when I was quite young and just started cosplaying about a year ago. I’ve dressed up as Emma Frost, Green Lantern Arisia, The Invisible Woman Susan Storm, A female Thor, and just recently at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, Electra Woman. I’m also an award winning adult actress.
Comics Ninja:How did you make the transition from adult movies into cosplay and the geek thing in general?
Tanya Tate: I have always had an admiration for all things geek. I just had not had the opportunity to express myself as much as I could now. Now living in L.A., I’m more aware of what’s going on and as far as events are concerned. Going to those events and participating led to the blog, which then led to me more openly talking about and exploring those passions.
I’m currently still working in adult entertainment, and it is a big part of my life, so there was no real transition as much as an addition. I made the joke that aside from the cape, the Emma Frost costume is probably something you’d see me wear in one of my movies. So in that sense, I feel comfortable in the costumes.
Comics Ninja: What was your first convention cosplay experience like?
Tanya Tate: It was at San Diego Comic Con 2010. I was a little apprehensive at first, I remember I had parked a couple of blocks away and it was a long walk from there to the convention centre. I was dressed in my little Emma Frost costume and those first few steps were pretty hard to take, even though people were telling me how cool I looked. But the closer I got to the convention centre the more comfortable I became. Because even though I’m used to wearing revealing outfits, I don’t wear them in public.
Comics Ninja: We love your sexy Superhero blog JustaLottaTanya.com. Tell us a little bit about it.
Tanya Tate:I don’t try an hide that I’m an adult actress, but I wanted a place on the net that I could blog about the things that were not adult, and be able to share that with people without having the stigma of being NSFW. So Justa Lotta Tanya was born out of being a major superhero fan and cosplayer. I have fun with it. It’s sexy, I don’t take myself seriously, I know I’m a boobilicious blonde wearing brightly colored costumes. It’s all in good fun, but I legitimately love doing it.
Comics Ninja:What do you think of all of the attention you have gotten from the fanboys (and girls) on the internet and at conventions?
Tanya Tate: I take it in stride, because mostly they see the costume and character than Tanya Tate. I am appreciative when they do know that it’s me. I’m aware that I do have a following because of the adult work, but like I said, I just take it in stride.
Comics Ninja:What is your best and worst fanboy experiences at the conventions?
Tanya Tate: The best? It’s been all good. Mostly everyone is cool and in the spirit of things.
The worst, well nothing has been that bad. I have had a few people who wanted a pictures with me get some what aggressive. Nothing crazy though.
