Movies: Weekend box office wrap up: Saw 3D traps the top spot. Meanwhile, Paranormal Activity 2 takes a scary tumble and Jackass 3D breaks $100 million. Rotten Tomatoes.
Television: The Walking Dead premier was violent, emotional, gripping and wonderful. Spinoff.com gives their thoughts on the first episode. ”“Days Gone Bye” is a riveting, chilling and near-flawless introduction to The Walking Dead that balances scenes of slow-building dread — Rick descending a pitch-black stairwell lit only by a series of fast-burning matches is masterfully shot — with bursts of action and moments of outright horror. Darabont and cinematographer David Tattersall deserve heaps of praise for that, but so, too, do actors Lincoln and James, who deliver magnificent performances (so much so that we can forgive their shaky accents). Anyone who isn’t moved by Rick’s breakdown in his empty home or Morgan’s struggle to shoot his undead wife may very well be undead themselves.” Click here for more.

Industry/Publishing: September 2010 sales down, but lower-tier orders at record levels. September 2009 was the best month of last yearfor comics sales, and this September had a difficult time keeping pace. Unit and dollar sales for comic books in the Top 300 were down 14% and 12% respectively, while top-selling trade paperbacks held firmer, off only 2%. Backlist sales and sales of comics below 300th place improved the overall total considerably, although it does appear that at least some August sales were reported in September.
