With Star Wars Day — that’s May 4th for everyone who doesn’t already know — now here, it’s time to remember that George Lucas’ creative legacy stretches far beyond the Clone Warsor three prequel movies everyone likes to complain about.

Since its creation, Star Wars has had a long and illustrious history in comic books, from saving Marvel in the 1970s to the successful multi-title franchise at Dark Horse that it is now. To celebrate the struggle for dominance of a galaxy far, far away, here are 10 Essential Star Wars Comics.
