D&D cosplay

In October Wizards of the Coast is releasing Dungeons & Dragons: The Legend of Drizzt  board game (MSRP $64.99), a cooperative adventure for 1-5 players set in the world of D&D and based on the bestselling Forgotten Realms novels by R.A. Salvatore featuring the adventures of the dark elf Drizzt Do’Urden.   The first two board game releases have been awesome and are played with regularity here in the Lair and we would highly recommend picking up this one for your gaming group.

In the latest release, as in the past releases, players can take on the role of the legendary drow ranger or one of his famous adventuring companions, battle fearsome foes, and win glory and treasure. Designed for between 1-5 players this cooperative board game features multiple scenarios, challenging quest and cooperative game play.

Dungeons & Dragongs

The Doubleclicks, bring us their funny new song “This Fantasy World.”  We believe the main character is a multi-class dwarf, fighter, cleric but then again we’re just guessing.  Enjoy!

D&D Play Spotlight
by Chris Tulach

As I write this, I’m as happy as a dire clam devouring a tribe of sea elves, since we’re thick in the middle of a nostalgia-fueled summer and fall for D&D. With the arrival of the Dark Sun books, Castle Ravenloft board game, a throwback Game Day around the corner, and the next D&D Encounters season taking us to the Keep on the Borderlands, my “old-school” sensibilities are being fulfilled with a bunch of awesome new products and programs. Let’s talk about a few!

Explore the Chaos Scar in D&D Encounters: Keep on the Borderlands

The next season of D&D Encounters begins on September 22 with a classic-feel campaign: the Keep on the Borderlands! The adventure, A Season of Serpents, highlights the new D&D Essentials books as the characters explore the dangerous lands of the Chaos Scar near Restwell Keep. A traditional D&D play experience coupled with an amazingly fun story arc written by Chris Sims, this season is sure to be an exciting return to the days of D&D yore. I’ve been barraged with questions about this season, and now’s the time to give answers!

To satisfy your curiosity, here’s a quick description of the adventure!

The Lost Cistern of Aravek
A remarkable device has been discovered in the wastes near the city-state of Tyr – a magical cistern created by a long-dead preserver named Aravek. You are charged to journey through the harsh desert lands, brave fierce monsters, and retrieve the cistern before your enemies can claim it for their own cruel master. Can you bring a font of live-giving water to a parched populace? Or will you succumb to dangers beyond the gates of Tyr? A Dark Sun adventure for 4-6 pregenerated 4th-level characters.
