Please join us in welcoming Jessie Pridemore our May 2012, Cosplay Babe of the Month.  Jessie joins us from New York City, a photographer by trade and a cosplayer on the side.  She has been gracious enough to spend some time with us for her feature which will be in two parts due to the incredible number of outstanding cosplay photos.  With that said, let’s get right to the interview with Ms. May.

Comics Ninja: Jessie, thank you for joining us today all the way from New York. We note that you are originally from New Orleans. Why don’t you take the opportunity to tell us how you ended up in New York and take let the Comics Ninja readers know a little bit more about yourself.

Jessie: It’s a bit of a journey.  I lived in New Orleans for about 15 years.  I was in the foster care system and when I was in my early teens, long term foster care was abolished. So when I was about 15, I was sent to live with my biological mother, who lives in Des Moines, Iowa.  I spent my high school years there and when I was about 19, I moved in with my high school sweetheart in Kansas.  That ended and I moved to Florida, thinking I’d enjoy the weather.  Florida was awful and I only lived there for a short amount of time before moving in with a friend in NYV to pursue photography.

Comics Ninja: What first got you into cosplay?

Jessie: My birthday is on Halloween.  My thirteenth birthday I was very dissatisfied with my costume choices and wanted to dress as Sailor Mercury, so my foster dad bought me the materials to make my costume for my birthday.  The next year my uncle Dan took me to my first convention, Demicon, so that I could help him into his Boba Fett costume.  The rest is history.

Comics Ninja: What is your favorite convention or event to attend?

Jessie: Anime Central is my favorite anime convention.  It’s the one I’ve been going to the longest and I staff.  It’s a large convention but still feels like a small convention.  Dragon*Con is my favorite convention in general.  It’s so laid back and you can cosplay literally anything and there will be at least 10 people there who that’s their favorite thing in the world.

Comics Ninja: Tell us a little bit about your interest in photography and modeling.

Jessie: Well photography is what I do for a living.  I like capturing sides of people they don’t see very often.  As far as modeling goes, I did it a little bit when I was younger but knew my limitations due to my height.  I like being on both sides of the camera, but I like being behind it more.

Comics Ninja: What do you think of all of the attention you have gotten from the fanboys (and girls) on the internet and at conventions?

Jessie: I don’t think I really get that much.  I don’t really wear the big attention grabbing outfits.  I’m always appreciative of people enjoying my work.  I put a lot of time and dedication into it.  I’m kind of an awkward turtle though, so I feel like I don’t properly express myself at times.

Comics Ninja: What are your best and worst fanboy experiences at the conventions or events?

jessie, pridemore, hottest, cosplay, photos, pictures, comic, books

Jessie: I can’t say that I’ve ever had a BAD experience.  I always get comments after events of people saying “Oh I saw you, but was too afraid to approach you.”  So I don’t really feel like I meet my “fans” as much as I could.  The funny part is, I’m probably more shy and awkward to meet them than they are.  I just hide behind my boisterous self and loud mouth.  Any time I walk to a cosplayer I really admire and they tell me they are a fan of my work, it always makes me feel really good.  Even more so when people say I inspire them.

That’s the end of part one of our feature and interview with Jessie Pridemore, Cosplay Babe of the Month for May 2012.  Join us tomorrow for part two.  Until then, get the latest comic book, gaming, sci-fi, movie, cosplay and animation news on The Ninja Report, containing sourced and aggregated news from every corner of the internet and updated every ten minutes!  Never miss another headline, preview or breaking story, Ninja Nation!  Once your done with the news check out the awesome cosplay over at our sister site Cosrater.com.

Welcome to part two of our feature and interview with April 2012, Cosplay Babe of the Month, Camille Bishop.  As suspected, she is a real sweetheart and has provided us with great answers to our questions so far.  With that said, let’s get back to the interview.

Cosplay, babe, of, the, month, camille, bishop, sexiest, hottest, pictures, convention, photos

Comics Ninja: We note that you cosplay both Marvel and DC any comic books that you are reading right now?

Camille: I’m sadly bombarded with literary books, multiple scripts, and music scores while being a current student majoring in Theater.  Summer is when I’m able to indulge into my guilty addictions and pleasures of comics!  I can say that I’m looking forward to reading a few Star Wars series, the issues of The New 52 versions of Superman and Wonder Woman, and read some older issues of Spider-Woman and Catwoman!

Comics Ninja: And now for the tough part of the interview.  Best Disney Princess and why?

Camille: This did make me laugh, thank you!  Don’t hate me, but Pocahontas has always been my favorite!  As a kid I always compared myself with her, and what my imagination would create!  I was an animal lover, always running around barefoot and climbing trees, swimming, etc; the all-around adventurous type girl!  I also was ( and still am) in love with the character John Smith!  I can say I admire Pocahontas’ strength, bravery, intelligence, spirituality, and passion!  Attributes that I strive to always have within myself.

Comics Ninja:  If you could have any superpowers what would they be?

Camille: I’ve always said that I would want to be a shape-shifter like Marvel’s mutant, Mystique.  To be able to turn into anyone or anything and utilize their powers to a certain extent mutant or not would be an incredible superpower to have. People usually have a hard time deciding between if they’d want to fly, swim underwater, super human strength, etc.  But as a shape-changer I can do them all!

Comics Ninja: What costumes are you planning in the near future?

Camille: I want to someday have my own 52 Version of Wonder Woman suit!  I might even take on both versions of having pants and the spanks! I’d also love to portray Mystique, ‘Ana’ from Van Helsing as well as one of Dracula’s brides, among a few others.  I asked my uncle what suits he’d like to see me in, and he responded with, “ Scarlet Witch, character from Legion of Super Heroes, and Iron Maiden,” and a few others. Who knows what suits my closet will hold in the future!

Comics Ninja: Any advice for fellow cosplayers planning to go to the conventions dressed as their favorite characters in the future?

With the arrival of Spring we bring you the refreshing and classic beauty of April 2012, Cosplay Babe of the Month,  Camille Bishop.  We were amazed by her portrayals of some of the classic icons of comic books and possibly the best Donna Troy we’ve ever seen.  Please join us in welcoming Camille.  Now, let’s get right to the first part of our two part feature and  interview with Ms. April.

Comics Ninja: Camille, thank you for joining us today all the way from Orlando.    Briefly tell us a little bit about yourself and growing up in Mississippi.

Camille: I grew up in a small town called Senatobia. Surrounded with a large family of six kids in total and my two loving and encouraging parents.  All of my afternoons/evenings after school were spent in gym practice.  But my afternoons outside of the gym I was always outdoors with my siblings up trees, swimming in the pool, playing in the ditch, mud, or anything I found interesting and fun!  I loved growing up with all of my siblings, me being the fifth in line and youngest four daughters.  We’re all a bit theatrical and loved to play board, card, and other family fun games together.  One of my favorite memories was the process of making a fire in our backyard in the fire pit, making smores, and enjoying the family company.  I lived in Senatobia MS until I was eleven when I moved to central Florida to pursue an elite competitive gymnastics career.  After a year of Florida’s training I quit and pursued my long suppressed theatrical passion for performing on the stage!

Photo right, Camille as Supergirl with comics legend and uncle, George Perez!

Comics Ninja: What first got you into cosplay?

Camille: My Uncle, George Perez, and I were both performing in show at, The Moonlight Players Theater, when he asked me if I would be interested in being a “Booth Babe” for his charitable cause, The Heroes Initiative Charity, at a comic convention (MegaCon 2010)! To be honest, when he said all I had to do was, “..dress up as a character, look pretty, and encourage people to donate!”- He had me at “dress up as a character.”

Comics Ninja: Wow, that George Perez!?  Awesome, we’re a little star struck.  All right, back to the interview.  What was your first cosplay experience like at the convention?

Camille: To be completely honest, I was quite nervous!  My first convention was MegaCon in Orlando, Florida.  My first costume was Super Girl, and walking out in a spandex suit, mini skirt, and high heeled boots was not something I’d ever done before! It took maybe three minutes before I had someone ask me for a picture!  My Uncle just smiled and motioned me off with a granting hand gesture! I turned, and with hands in fists on my hips, I struck my first heroic pose!  I was completely and hopelessly hooked from that day on!

Welcome back to part two of our feature and interview with March 2012 Cosplay Babe of the Month, Ginny McQueen. Great first half of the interview so far so let's get right back to it.Comics Ninja: We note that you are an anime and manga girl, any Marvel, DC, Image comic books that you are reading right now?

Ginny: I’m actually writing a script right now and working on a cosplay-related show, so all I’ve been reading is reference materials. No time for pleasure reading!

Comics Ninja:  Ooh, we like that idea for a show.  And now for the tough part of the interview. Which is better DC or Marvel and why?

Ginny:  DC.  Because I am first and always a Batman lover.

Comics Ninja: First rule of Fight Club?

Ginny: You just broke it.

Comics Ninja:  Nice. What games are you playing these days?

Ginny: Nothing at the moment!  I just found out about the setting for Assassin’s Creed 3 today, and so I’m crazy excited about that.  And Mass Effect 3 is almost here.  Right now my husband has more time to play video games than I do.  I’m working on a hundred things at once (or so it feels like).

Comics Ninja:  Please don’t let your husband read this interview.  He’s going to think you just called him out as a slacker.  Moving on, if you could have any superpowers what would they be?

Ginny: Invincible/Invulnerable/Eternal Youth.

Comics Ninja: What costumes are you planning in the near future?

Ginny: This year is a very quiet year in terms of costumes for me. I am working on a number of other projects, and although some are cosplay related, they may not involve me cosplaying! I am hoping to get my Dark Crystal costume done this year, but I said that last year! Cosplaying is really expensive so unfortunately I can’t do everything I want to at once.

Comics Ninja: Any advice for fellow cosplayers planning to go to the conventions dressed as their favorite characters in the future?

Ginny:  I’ve gotten to where if I am going to be wearing costumes at conventions, I make sure they are comfortable.  I will wear crazy high heels for photos, but walking in them kills me.  And it always helps to have a buddy who can help you out when you are in costume.  :)

Comics Ninja:  Any last parting pearls of wisdom or otherwise to pass onto the readers?

Ginny: Always have fun! Cosplay is an expensive hobby and isn’t worth doing if you aren’t having fun. Never take yourself too seriously.

It’s time for March madness and we’re doing our part by bringing you our Cosplay Babe of the Month for March 2012, Ginny McQueen.  Let’s join together and give Ginny a warm welcome from the Ninja Nation!  Alright, with that out of the way let’s get right to part one of our two part feature and interview with Ms. March.

Comics Ninja:  Ginny, thank you for joining us today all the way from Las Vegas. Briefly tell us a little bit about yourself.

Ginny:  I am a small, weird girl with encyclopedic knowledge of TV and a UFO obsession.  I also dress up in crazy costumes.

Comics Ninja:  That is concise.  Next.  What first got you into cosplay?

Ginny: My first convention was Otakon ’98.  A couple of friends were going and they told me that people dress up in costume. I threw together some item from my closet and went as Minnie May from GunSmith Cats (I’m short and blonde, so it worked). I had so much fun at the convention meeting people and being silly, there was no question that I wanted to do it more.

Comics Ninja:  We see that you have traveled extensively around the world.  Have you always had the urge to explore other countries and cultures?

Cosplay, babe, of, the, month, ginny, mcqueen, hottest, sexiest, convention, costumem photos, comic, books

Ginny: Honestly I’m very much a hermit most of the time.  Most of my time is spent working from home and when I was younger I had never even been on an airplane until I was a teenager and never really went on vacations or anything.  So getting to see so much of the world was a shock to my system, but now I’m addicted.  I can’t wait to visit new places.
